About The Project
A former three-bedroom, three-bath home gains a master-suite in this complete renovation in Fire Island Pines, NY. The Pines is located in Fire Island, a barrier island on the southern side of Long Island. Transportation is via foot on the boardwalks in this car-free seasonal community with only 600 homes.
A city professional sought an oasis to escape the busy pace of the city and entertain on the weekends. He wanted a fresh, inviting design and a large master suite.
What We Did
We reimagined the space and created a master suite in what used to be outdoor deck space. To regain the deck space, we built a roof deck over the master suite which was easily accessed from the kitchen. For the upper level, which is used for entertaining, we selected durable materials that would withstand the elements.
The backsplash of the bar is made of recycled Nespresso capsules and copper tinted mirror. In each of the bathrooms, we selected clean white tiles with an accent wall of penny tiles. We installed a ductless split air-conditioning system for maximum efficiency and so that each of the guest rooms could maintain their own temperature. The neon “yes” reminds us there really is only one correct answer.
By reorganizing the floor plan, the house gained a significant amount of usable space. The flow of the house was improved dramatically and easily transitions from day to night.
